We are excited to share that senior Owens Maines has been named the winner of the H.O.G. Chapter 5254 artwork design contest.
The initiative began when LSHS assistant principal Zach Mussmon heard the group was looking for a new logo and brought the idea to technology education teacher Todd Garber. The project was integrated into Mr. Garber’s first-semester classes, and students were challenged to create a professional design. L-S students rose to the occasion, accounting for 54 of the 59 total entries received by the chapter.
Narrowing down the field was no easy feat for the chapter officers, who eventually selected five finalists to present to the full 200+-member group at their March meeting. Owens’ design - a majestic bald eagle with its wings spread wide over a scenic Lancaster landscape - was the clear favorite, earning him the top spot and a $250 prize.
Chapter president Tim Shaub and committee chair Vickie Styer visited LSHS on March 19 to present Owens with a certificate and check. In a letter to the school, the H.O.G. Chapter expressed its gratitude to the students and teachers involved, noting that Owens is a very talented young man with a bright future in graphic arts and design.
Congratulations to Owens on this impressive achievement!
