Seventh grader Ben Rimert won the 2022 Martin Meylin Spelling Bee on Tuesday, December 6. Cole Schneider (grade 7), Harry Skiles (grade 8), and Sophia Coon (grade 6) took second, third, and fourth place. The top four qualify to participate in the online WITF Written Spelling Bee, with the top scorers participating in the WITF Grand Championship Spelling Bee on March 18. The winner of that competition will represent Central PA in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.

This year's spelling bee was the first open to the public since the 2019-2020 school year. Twenty-five of the school's top spellers participated, and the bee lasted for five rounds. Four students competed in a spell-off for fifth place/alternate, which was won by Ben's sixth-grade brother Andrew Rimert.

Congratulations to Ben and to all of this year's competitors!
