Author Assemblies Return to Lampeter Elementary with Lee Harper Visit

Children’s author and illustrator Lee Harper delighted Lampeter Elementary School students recently with a series of visiting author assemblies on November 10th.

Lee Harper answers questions from Lampeter Elementary students

The Doylestown-based illustrator is best known for the Woolbur and Turkey picture book series. He had classes in stitches talking about how he gets his ideas and creates his drawings.

Students arrived at assemblies each carrying a pencil and clipboard. They soon put the tools to use, drawing a sheep, turkey, and dog in Lee’s signature style. Lee used basic shapes to guide drawings and took audience suggestions to finish each one. He also answered questions from the audience and led groups in a turkey-themed song.

Lee’s next book, Turkey’s Valentine Surprise, is due to be released on December 13. Learn more about him at LeeHarperArt.com.
