Six students from Lampeter-Strasburg High School successfully auditioned to be part of the 2024 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 Modern Band. They will perform alongside other students representing Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties at a festival at Lancaster Mennonite High School from April 12-13, 2024. The concert will be guest-conducted by Warren Graham from Lebanon Valley College. Ticket information is not available at this time.

The students were all part of the LSHS modern band class, which was a new elective for the 2023-2024 school year. In class, students keep listening journals and study songwriting, mixing, editing, and instruments: keyboard, bass, guitar, electric guitar, and drums. Small groups within the class also form “bands” and rehearse covers of popular songs. This semester's class is currently working on their fourth song.

Congratulations to our District 7 Modern Band members:

  • Carson Zook* (bass)

  • Ben Moyer (drums)

  • Kole Lawrence (vocal)

  • Lillian O’Bannon (voice)

  • Mia LaFontaine (voice)

  • Ellie Rhinier (voice)

*Although the class debuted this year, it was Carson's second year in the PMEA Modern Band competition. As a sophomore in 2023, he advanced to the state level.
