November 2024 High School Honors
Congratulations to November Pioneer Superlatives Annaliese Sauve and Ben Moyer, and to Students of the Month Savanna Minnich and James Miers!
LSHS teachers recognized two seniors, a junior, and a freshman for their achievements in November 2024.
Pioneer Superlatives
Annaliese Sauve
Annaliese is a senior and the daughter of Paul and Kristin Sauve of Lancaster. She is the Mock Trial Club president, National Honor Society co-president, Model UN vice president, Interact Club secretary, a Link Crew leader, and a member of the Mini-THON committee, student council, High School Heroes program, Inter-Club Council, and the girls' soccer team. Annaliese has been recognized for her in-school achievements as a Rotary Club Student of the Month, L-L League Academic All-Star, and a Lampeter-Strasburg Burrowes Scholar at all possible grade levels. She volunteers at her church and participates in youth group activities. Annaliese also enjoys reading, playing the piano, and spending time with her friends. She plans to continue her education and double major in political science and psychology, with a potential minor in criminal justice, with the goal of working for a government agency or non-profit.
"Annaliese is an outstanding student in my HACC US History class. She earned an impressive 99% in the first marking period. She is an active participant in class, always offering well-thought-out ideas and arguments. She is able to participate in a way that is non-confrontational and in a way that others feel free to offer their opinions as well."
Ben Moyer
Ben is a senior and the son of Liz and Bryan Moyer of Lancaster. His school activities include the Fellowship of Christian Students, National Honor Society, Marching Band, and Link Crew. Ben is also active in his church youth group and enjoys drumming in his free time. He plans to attend college to pursue a degree in political science.
"Ben regularly participates in class discussions and puts forth maximum effort on assignments. His demeanor is very friendly, often greeting people (and teachers!) by name. Additionally, he often chooses to work with different people in class (instead of clinging to the same partner repeatedly). He makes a conscientious decision to stay on top of all his upcoming assignments and is a pleasure to have in class!"
Students of the Month
Savanna Minnich
Savanna is a junior and the daughter of Kristina Minnich of Strasburg. As a creative person who enjoys the beauty of art, she is involved with school musicals as a set painter and spends time painting and learning different techniques, especially with watercolor and oil pastels. She plans to attend college to become an elementary art teacher and hopes to participate in a childcare work-study during her senior year.
"Savanna consistently exemplifies hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude in the classroom. She approaches each day with focus, actively engages in all learning activities, and always strives to exceed expectations. Savanna’s work ethic and kindness make her an outstanding role model. She is responsible and always puts her best effort into her classwork."
James Miers
James is a freshman and the son of Josh and Rebecca Miers of Strasburg. An honor roll student, he is also a member of the Lego Club at LSHS. James enjoys spending time model railroading, Legos, and playing Minecraft. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career as a writer or in the film industry.
"James is an exceptional student whose hard work and dedication shine in every aspect of his school life. In Videography class, he consistently contributes to group projects with creativity and collaboration, setting a high standard for his peers. Beyond academics, James has demonstrated outstanding leadership by spearheading the creation of the L-S LEGO Club, which had an impressive turnout of over 40 students at its first meeting. His initiative has created a new and engaging space for students to connect and share their passion for creativity."
Board Recognition
The November Students of the Month attended the December 5 meeting of the L-S Board of School Directors, where they received public recognition. Board member Suzanne Knowles presented their certificates.
