High School Names March 2024 Students of the Month

Senior Talia Hall and junior Preston Schonour are the March Pioneer Superlatives, and sophomores Elaina Ruiz and Landon Slaugh are the Students of the Month.

Lampeter-Strasburg High School teachers applauded a senior, a junior, and two sophomores for their achievements in March.

Pioneer Superlatives

Talia Hall is a senior and the daughter of Larry and Kelly Hall of Lancaster. The practical arts department nominated her as a great student who is willing to go above and beyond to help anyone and everyone. At school, Talia is the Student Council Secretary, the Drama Club and International Thespian Society Treasurer, the secretary for the Chorus, a Color Guard Captain, and a member of the Fall Play and Spring Musical casts, Morning Announcements, Tri-M music honor society, Link Crew, Madrigals, Fellowship of Christian Students, High School Heroes, hair and makeup crew for the Martin Meylin musical, Interclub Council, and Pioneer Page Turners. When she is not participating in one of her many school activities, she helps at church vacation Bible school over the summer and has completed almost 100 hours of community service. Aside from this, she enjoys spending time with my friends and family and doing anything related to music/singing. Some of her honors and awards include Honor Roll, Best Supporting Actress (2023 at LS), and Best Lead Actress (2024 at LS). Next year Talia will be attending Millersville University to major in English Education for Grades 7-12.

Craig (Preston) Schonour is a junior and the son of Craig and Jennifer Schonour of Willow Street. The social studies department nominated him as an excellent, respectful student who is crushing his responsibilities as a class officer. Preston is the junior class president and a member of the football team, Link Crew, Mini-THON, Student Council, and Model UN. Outside of school, he enjoys being outdoors and listening to music. In the future, Preston would like to pursue a Biomedical Engineering degree.

Students of the Month

Eliana Ruiz is a sophomore and the daughter of Carrie Cadavid and Jose Ruiz of Lancaster. The English department nominated her for consistently shining in the classroom through outstanding performance and unwavering dedication to academic pursuits. When she is not in school, Eliana participates with Blessings of Hope. Some of her honors include the Health Burrowes Scholar and honor roll. She enjoys art and art history, plants, and animals. In the future, Eliana hopes to become a manager of a steady-going company.

Landon Slaugh is a sophomore and the son of Aimee and Steve Slaugh of Strasburg. Several departments nominated him for his positive attitude, focus, and goal-oriented nature. Within the school and community, Landon is a member of the Garden Spot FFA. His honors for the FFA include the Green Hand and Chapter Degree. Outside of school, he enjoys spending his time hunting and fishing. Landon hopes to go into diesel mechanics in the future.
