High School Names January Students of the Month

Congratulations to seniors Georgia Harnish and Lance Callithen and to sophomores Lila Murdock and Leo Sanchez.

January 2023 Students of the Month: Georgia Harnish, Lance Callithen, Lila Murdock, and Leandro Sanchez

 

Lampeter-Strasburg High School teachers recognized two seniors and two sophomores for their achievements in January 2023.

Pioneer Superlatives

Georgia Harnish - Georgia is a senior and the daughter of Chad and Anne Harnish of Strasburg. The English department nominated her for displaying kindness, a strong work ethic, and intellectual curiosity. Georgia is a frequent member of the distinguished honor roll and participates in Model UN, Mini-THON, National Honor Society, Student Advisory Board, and English tutoring at school. She works part-time as a cashier and barista at Sweetish Candy Store in Lancaster. Outside of school, Georgia enjoys reading, writing, traveling, thrifting, the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. She plans to attend college to study English. 

Lance Callithen - Lance is a senior and the son of Henry and Amy Callithen of Strasburg. Several departments nominated him as a role model due to his dependability, trustworthiness, and demeanor. Lance is a regular on the distinguished honor roll and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Outside of school, he enjoys playing video games, watching movies, writing stories, drawing, and spending time with his friends, family, and dog. Lance aspires to be a video game developer so he can make games that entertain, inspire, and teach valuable lessons.

Students of the Month 

Lila Murdock - Lila is a sophomore and the daughter of Holly and Pat Murdock of Lancaster. The fine arts department nominated her for being an engaging and focused student who is supportive and helpful to her classmates. Lila is a frequent member of the distinguished honor roll and participates in Interact Club, marching band, concert band, and pit orchestra for the Spring Musical. She volunteers with Impact Missions with low-income housing/building projects and enjoys playing the drums, traveling, working out, and spending time with friends. Lila's future plans include attending Penn State University to earn a degree in business. 

Leandro Sanchez - Leo is a sophomore and the son of Alain and Nayivi Sanchez of Lancaster. The fine arts department nominated him as a polite and diligent student who is always looking for ways to improve. Leo's interests include traveling, games, and math, and his future plans include a career in real estate. 

Board Recognition

The students received recognition from the L-S Board of School Directors at the Board's February 6 meeting. Board member Audra Spahn presented the certificates.
