Pioneer Superlatives

Sophia Fiorello is a senior and the daughter of Peter and Bethany Fiorello of Strasburg. The social studies department nominated her for working hard regardless of the rigor or workload required. Sophia is a member of National Honor Society, Varsity Club, Pioneer Interact Club, Mini-THON committee, and the varsity girls' soccer team. She is a consistent member of the distinguished honor roll and was the Burrowes Scholar for English in 11th grade. Outside of school, Sophia is active in her church’s youth group, works part-time at Nike, and enjoys writing, reading, being active, and hanging out with friends. Sophia plans to attend Cedarville University to study allied health with the goal of pursuing a career in occupational therapy.

Truman Horst is a sophomore and the son of Clifford and Roselle Horst of Lancaster. The social studies department nominated him for outstanding preparation and participation in class. Truman is a member of the concert band, marching band, jazz band, Fellowship of Christian Students, and the track and field team. He is a regular on the distinguished honor roll and was the Burrowes Scholar for mathematics in both fifth and eighth grade. Outside of school, Truman is active in his church’s youth group and live stream and enjoys playing music, playing basketball, participating in track, and spending time with his church community. He plans to continue his studies in data science after graduation.

Students of the Month

Piper Lazar is a freshman and the daughter of Robert and Heather Lazar of Lancaster. Multiple departments nominated her as a hardworking, motivated student who perseveres and helps others. Piper plays travel soccer year-round for PA Classics Girls Academy, where she can travel and meet other players nationwide. With sports as an essential part of her life, Piper plans to attend college and pursue a career as an athletic trainer.

Ben Mulron is a freshman and the son of Candace Mulron of Lancaster. Multiple departments nominated him as a natural peer mentor and quiet leader by example. At school, he is a football team member, and he enjoys playing basketball, hanging out with friends, and collecting sports cards in his free time. Ben is still undecided about his future plans.
