2025-2026 Winter Sports Recap

The winter sports season was a showcase of grit and determination, resulting in a formidable 60% winning percentage and a grand total of 196 wins. Our student-athletes pushed their limits this year, resulting in historic achievements and individual accolades. Whether it was the Girls Basketball team making a run in the PIAA Championship or our first-ever female wrestler to qualify for states, the district continued its reputation as a competitive powerhouse.
Basketball (Boys)

The boys’ basketball team fought through a highly competitive season, battling for every possession in Section 3. The Varsity squad finished with a winning record in league play and ended the regular season ranked #18 in the District 3 5A power ratings. While they narrowly missed the postseason due to tie-breaker criteria, the program showed immense depth, with the JV, JHV, and JHJV teams all posting impressive winning records.
Basketball (Girls)

The girls’ basketball team had a great season, ending with one of the most exciting chapters in the program history. After finishing second in Section 3 and ranked sixth in District 3 5A, the squad surged in postseason to finish fifth in District play, making it to the PIAA State playoffs for the first time since 2022. Their State Quarterfinals finish was the second best in program history! Elaina Hostetter earned 1st Team All L-L and 1st Team All Defense honors, Morgan Dombach was named 2nd Team All L-L, and Addison Boyd represented the program on the All L-L Academic Team.
Bowling

The Bowling team rolled through a successful season, qualifying for both the L-L League Team Tournament and District 3 Team Regionals. On the individual side, Emily Dunlap placed 8th overall at the L-L League Girls Singles Championships. Her impressive performance earned her a spot in the individual District and Regional tournaments.
Swimming

Our swimmers made a massive splash in the postseason, with the girls' team finishing 4th overall and the boys' team finishing 14th overall at Districts. The team also sent a strong contingent to the PIAA State Championships, including Lilah Schwartz (100 FL) and Maddy Juba (500 FR). Additionally, both the 200 FR Relay and 400 FR Relay teams (Schwartz, Juba, Audrina Wallace, and Makenna Hostetter) qualified for the state meet. Six swimmers qualified for Districts, showcasing the program's incredible range.
Wrestling (Boys)

The boys wrestling team made their presence felt at the L-L League Championships, with five wrestlers placing in the top eight. The team's season extended into the District 3 Tournament thanks to Isaiah Wilson, who placed 5th at the League Championships and was named an L-L Section 2 2nd Team All-Star. Harry Skiles and Wyatt Zook both secured Honorable Mention All-Star nods, and Skiles also earned recognition as an All-Academic All-Star.
Wrestling (Girls)

It was a historic winter for the girls’ wrestling program, highlighted by Kinsley Ferreira, the district’s first-ever female state qualifier. Ferreira claimed the L-L League Championship and took 3rd at Regionals. The team also saw four regional qualifiers: Avery Deckman, Olivia Lewis, Makenna Andrews, and Avery Planck. First Team All-Star honors were awarded to Ferreira, Andrews, and Planck, while Lewis and Nyairra Wilson were named Second Team All-Stars. The program also demonstrated elite classroom performance, with six athletes earning Academic All-Star status.
As we wrap up an incredible winter season, the district extends congratulations to all our athletes for their hard work and sportsmanship. A special note of recognition goes out to our Junior High winter sports programs: Junior High Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Wrestling. These young athletes showed tremendous growth this season, and the future of our athletic program looks incredibly bright!
