Senior Scholarships

Each year, Lampeter-Strasburg School District seniors are eligible to receive scholarships funded by various community members and organizations. Seniors can access applications for the scholarships below through Schoology. More scholarship opportunities as well as applications for L-S Educational Foundation loans, can be obtained by visiting the guidance office.

All scholarship applications are due by Friday, March 12.

BB&T (now Truist) Economic Growth Grant STEM/STEAM Scholarship

Two scholarships, each worth $1,500, will be granted to L-S seniors pursuing degrees in STEM or STEAM fields. One scholarship will go to a male and the other to a female.

Requirements include expected attendance at a post-secondary institution in Lancaster County, a STEM or STEAM major, and a letter of recommendation.

David B. and Kathryn Kraybill Scholarship

This $1,000 award is for a student interested in studying language arts, social studies, science, mathematics, business, fine arts, music, practical arts, technology education, foreign language, health/physical education or CTC programs at a college, university, or technical/trade school.

Requirements include a cumulative GPA of 3.0, a transcript that reflects coursework in the area of interest, good standing in regards to discipline and attendance, and an essay.

Elizabeth S. Henry Scholarship

This $1,000 award for a student planning to study elementary education. Other factors will be considered in the determination of the recipient including: leadership, discipline, citizenship, community service, attendance, and academic performance.

Frank Barton Jr. Award in Memory of J. Aldus Herr

This $1,000 scholarship is open to any student pursuing any type of formal post-secondary education including college, trade, technical, nursing, and business schools.

Requirements include a cumulative GPA of 3.0, a transcript that reflects coursework in the area of interest, good standing in regards to discipline and attendance, and an essay.

Gene Snyder Memorial Scholarship

This award provides two $200 scholarships; one for a male and one for a female. Gene Snyder has been described as a hardworking, humble man who worked with his hands. This scholarship seeks to honor students who are like him.

Requirements include a cumulative GPA of 2.5, a transcript that reflects coursework in practical arts, technology education, or coursework from the Career and Technology Center, an acceptable discipline and attendance record, and two letters of recommendation.

Geraldine Rapp Educational Scholarship (GFCW/SAWC)

This $350 award is given by the GFWC/ Strasburg Area Women’s Club annually to recognize a student who will be attending a post secondary school in order to pursue a career centered in growth and development of young children. This may include elementary education, child care worker, pediatric medicine or nursing, etc.

Juliet Benson Memorial Scholarship

This is a $200 scholarship for students pursuing post-secondary education to study psychiatry, psychology, or social work.

Justin Barr Memorial Scholarship

This $600 scholarship is bestowed annually to assist a deserving young person who aspires to attend college, just like Justin did before he his life was cut short during his senior year at Lampeter-Strasburg High School.

Consideration will be given to scholastic achievement, participation in school activities, school leadership, community involvement, and financial need. Priority will be given to accomplished achievers who have little chance of receiving financial recognition through other award sources.

Requirements include two letters of recommendation and an essay.

L-S Administrators' Scholarship

This is a $650 scholarship for high school seniors who are planning to attend a four-year college/university to major in EDUCATION.

An essay is required.

L-S Democratic Club Scholarship

This is a $500 scholarship for students with a history of community involvement in the Lampeter-Strasburg community. Students must be planning to attend a post-secondary institution after graduation.

Requirements include two letters of recommendation and an essay.

L-S Youth Soccer Scholarship

This is a $250 scholarship awarded to a senior who participated in LSYS for a minimum of two years.

Requirements include no more than three unexcused absences and no suspensions during 11th and 12th grade.

Lampeter-Strasburg Education Foundation Gene Snyder Scholarship

The L-S Education Foundation offers two $1,000 scholarships for students pursuing post secondary education at a college, university, technical or trade school.

Requirements include two letters of recommendation and an essay. Applicants must provide GPA, intended college/university, and major.

Margaret N. Schuler Memorial Scholarship


This $300 scholarship is bestowed annually to honor Mrs. Schuler's memory and to assist a student entering the field of education. Margaret Schuler was a teacher of English, social studies and student council advisor at Lampeter-Strasburg High School from 1974 to 1990.

To be eligible, the student must enroll at a university within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

Matthew R. Conrad Memorial Scholarship

A $1,200 scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to attend a college or university after graduation. Consideration will be given to scholastic achievement, character, and participation in school activities. Special attention also will be given to personal qualities such as appreciation of and concern for others.

To be eligible, the student must be a member of the L-S High School band.

Millersville Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 7294 Medical Nursing Scholarship

This $250 scholarship is for students pursuing a post-secondary education for a career in the medical or nursing fields.

Mom Strubel Award

This $350 award is given by the GFWC/Strasburg Area Women’s Club in memory of lifelong Strasburg resident Mary Strubel. The Mom Struble Award is bestowed annually to honor her memory and to recognize a student for their outstanding volunteer service to the community.

Rae Ann Henry Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship of $250-$1,000 is offered for high school seniors who are planning to continue their education in the automotive field.

A letter of recommendation is required.

S. Dale High Scholarship

A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior who embodies the traits of S. Dale High, who has been described as practical, common, plain, humble, well-respected by peers, having a strong work ethic, supportive of peers, friendly, outgoing, and considered an unsung hero who was supportive of all.

Requirements include a cumulative GPA of 2.5, coursework in practical arts, technology education, or courses at the Career and Technology Center, and an acceptable disciplinary and attendance record.

Southern Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce Business Award

The award amount is $500 to be used for educational expenses incurred during the first year of enrollment at an institution for higher education, fees incurred to start their own business, or expenses related to undertaking an apprenticeship. College attendance is not required.

Requirements include a GPA of 2.0 or better, a current resume, and an essay.

Strasburg Ambulance Community Fund Scholarship

An award of $1,000 will go to a senior who is planning to pursue post-secondary education in a healthcare-related field.

Requirements include a GPA of 3.0 or better and a transcript that reflects coursework that would indicate success in a healthcare program.

Strasburg Borough Service Award

An award of $300 will go to a senior who is pursuing post-secondary education at a college, university, technical or trade school or is going directly into the work force. Students must be either a community student that has shown a history of volunteer community service throughout their high school career or a student that has shown a history of serving his/her fellow students in the school throughout their high school career.

Requirements include a letter of recommendation, a transcript, and and essay.

Strasburg Police Officers Association Law Enforcement Scholarship

This $250 scholarship is to be given at graduation to a senior who will is planning to study law enforcement, police science, or criminal justice.

The R.H. Holmberg Memorial Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is reserved for a student who has utilized diligence and determination to overcome adversity.

Application is limited to students who have been marching band members for at least three years.

Todd Garber L-S Baseball Scholarship

This $750 scholarship is to be given to a senior who will be playing baseball at college and who respects and gives back to the game, their school, and their community.

An essay is required.

Volunteer Scholarships - School and Community Service Awards

This application covers two community service-based scholarships:

1. LANCASTER SOUTH ROTARY SERVICE AWARD: This $1,000 award is for a senior who provides outstanding service to the school and community.

2. G. R. MITCHELL COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: This $500 monetary tribute is for a senior who has given exceptional volunteer service to the community.

Requirements include an essay and list of community service activities.

Willow Street Lions Club Health & Human Service Award

Two $1,000 awards will be given annually by the Willow Street Lions Club to recognize a senior who will be attending a post secondary school in order to pursue a career centered in health or human services. The award will be paid after successful completion of the first semester.

Requirements include placing in the top third of the graduating class and an essay.

Willow Valley Associates Hospitality Scholarship

This $500 scholarship is for students interested in furthering their education in hospitality management, culinary or pastry arts, or travel and tourism. Students must be enrolled in or accepted by an accredited college, university, technical school, or post-secondary school.

Requirements include a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75, coursework in the area of interest, and an essay.

Students can apply for scholarships through Schoology or visit the guidance office for a paper copy.
