L-S Commemorates Veterans Day
On this Veterans Day, we would like to share just a few of the ways students and staff honored those who have served.
Lampeter Elementary School
Mrs. Gilger's and Mrs. Mannix's first-grade classes made Veterans Day projects and did a writing activity in their honor. Posters were made to be hung at an event this Saturday for Burning Bridges Foundation.
Hans Herr Elementary School
Miss Adsitt’s third grade class created posters and videos in honor of family members and/or friends who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. From great grandparents and grandparents, to aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, and parents, a wide range of individuals were lifted up and honored.
Mrs. Raugh’s and Mrs. Gochnauer’s fourth grade classes learned about veterans, made cards, and crafted colorful Veterans Memorial Flags for their classroom doors.
Martin Meylin Middle School
Mrs. Lagaza’s eighth-grade English/Language Arts classes reviewed the history behind Veterans Day and wrote cards for veterans.
And as is the tradition at Martin Meylin, Mr. Raum paused at 11:11 a.m. to read a Veterans Day statement and Mr. Royer played Taps for all to hear.
Lampeter-Strasburg High School
Mrs. Ingram's class made holiday cards for veterans.
Mr. Canty shared photos taken this morning at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The Social Studies Department invited students and staff members to honor the veterans in their lives by contributing to a school-wide slide show. View the slide show here.
