High School Names December Students of the Month

Lampeter-Strasburg High School faculty recognized two juniors and two seniors for their achievements in December 2021.

Pioneer Superlatives

Mariah Beiler

Beiler web Mariah Beiler

Mariah is a senior and the daughter of David and Keturah Beiler of Lancaster. She is the vice president of the Spanish Club, secretary of the LSHS choir, and a member of the school musical cast, Madrigals, distinguished honor roll, National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Thespian Society, and Student Council. She is also the recipient of a Lancaster County Young Artist (LCYA) award. Outside of school, Mariah keeps busy with church youth group and mission trips, participating in the Clinic for Special Needs Children 5k, and working at the Strasburg Market Place. She also enjoys running, backpacking, hiking, singing, playing the piano, and traveling. Mariah is planning to further her education with the goal of earning a degree in clinical psychology.

Braden Weese

Weese web Braden Weese

Braden is a junior and the son of Christopher and Lauren Weese of Lancaster. He is involved with Mini-THON, Model UN, Inter-Club Council, student tutoring, National Honor Society, and the track and field team. A regular on the distinguished honor roll, Braden is a silver Burrowes Scholar recipient; for Spanish and social studies in eighth grade, and for mathematics in fifth grade. Outside of school, Braden attends church at St. Anthony’s and works part-time at Dutch Wonderland. He also enjoys working out, watching movies, and spending time with friends. Braden aspires to become a lawyer, and later, a politician.

Sophia Fiorello

Sophia is a junior and the daughter of Peter and Bethany Fiorello of Strasburg. She is a member of Mini-THON, Varsity Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, and the girls’ soccer team. Sophia is also involved with the youth group at Keystone Church. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, being active, and reading. Sophia plans to attend college to pursue a career in the medical field.

Nick Del Grande

Nick is a senior and the son of Heather and Steve Phenegar of Lancaster. He is a member of the varsity football team, earning two First-Team All-State awards, two Linebacker of the Year awards in section, two All-Pennsylvania team awards, a Lineman of the Year in section award, three All-Section honors, and a place on two District 3 4A champion teams. Nick received 30 Division 1 football offers. Outside of school, Nick attends youth group, helps at Pioneer football and basketball camps, and has served as the guest speaker at the L-S midget football banquet and the 2021 Pioneer Pride Classic. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, weightlifting, and spending time with family and friends. After graduation, Nick plans to work toward his childhood dream of playing in the NFL while pursuing a degree in elementary education.
