High School Names December Students of the Month

L-S High School faculty and staff applaud two seniors and two juniors for their achievements in December 2020.

Pioneer Superlatives

Jacklyn Martin

Jackie is a senior and the daughter of Nancy Martin of Strasburg and Gary Martin. She is the senior class chairperson, a student tutor, and a member student council, STEM Club, National Honor Society, and the distinguished honor roll. Outside of school, Jackie plays AAU basketball, babysits, and tutors. She also spends time studying chemistry, going to the gym, and playing basketball and Frisbee. She plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill to major in chemistry and intends to put her degree to use solving issues regarding plastic pollution and poor road systems.

Jake Long

Jake is a senior and the son of Ellen and Mike Long of Willow Street. He is a member of the baseball team, National Honor Society, and the distinguished honor roll. When not at school, Jake works at Willow Valley and enjoys playing guitar, baseball, running, and spending time outdoors. He plans to attend Washington College to play baseball and study environmental science, with plans to become a marine ecologist.

Students of the Month

Cole Younger

Cole is a junior and the son of Steven and Laura Younger of Lancaster. He is a member of the football team. Outside of school, Cole participates in his church youth group and spends time playing football and baseball. He plans to pursue a career in the electrical or engineering trade.

Vy Nguyen

Vy is a junior and the daughter of Y Thi Nguyen of Lancaster. She enjoys playing badminton outside of school and plans to pursue a career as a veterinarian.
