Girls Lacrosse Players Raise Money, Play in Tournament
Rowan Kimmel Selected as National Award Finalist
Pioneer girls lacrosse team members present a check for $1,000 to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute.
The girls lacrosse team stayed active in the postseason this year. Four players - Rowan Kimmel, Emaly Garrett, Bethany Stoltzfus, and Emily Lapinsky - represented L-S on the Central PA team at the Memorial Day weekend USA Lacrosse Tournament. Sophomore Rowan Kimmel was selected as one of six finalists for the Heather Leigh Albert Award, which recognizes the “most outstanding lacrosse player in the nation in the Schoolgirls’ division, in spirit as well as athletic ability.” Way to go Rowan!
The team was also busy off the field, raising money for the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute.
“The Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute is a world leader in cancer research, patient care, and education, to provide access to advanced diagnosis and treatment right here in Lancaster,” said team captains Riley Dawson and Jeslyn Krebs, both 2021 graduates. This year, the Lampeter-Strasburg Girls Lacrosse team decided to collect money to donate to an organization that has made an impact on multiple families in our L-S community. It is because of your generosity that these families in our community are able to live comfortably in times of need.”
Seniors and coach Marshall Krebs presented a check for $1,000 to the Institute staff at a ceremony on Friday, May 21.
