Alyssa Zaepfel and Lana Dyer have each earned a National Medal in the 2021 Scholastic Art Awards. Alyssa received a Gold Medal for her painting Panther Woman, and Lana earned a Silver Medal for a photograph titled Summer Dreams. These two amazing young artists' work will be published online this June via the Scholastic Galleries. An online ceremony also will take place on June 9, 2021.
More than 80,000 students submitted nearly 230,000 works of art and writing to the 2021 Scholastic Awards. Our students' work was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Only 2,000 works received a National Medal, which places them within the top one percent of all submissions!
