Students Create Patriotic Art for VFW Contest

Seven Lampeter-Strasburg High School students participated in the 2019 VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Senior Meredith McDonald was the first place winner for VFW Post 7294 in Millersville and senior Christine Fritz was the first place winner for VFW Post 5956 in Manheim. Both local winners will advance to the state competition.

Five additional students received recognition for their work:

  • Melissa Anderson, senior
  • Micah Gordley, junior
  • Pierce Lehman, senior
  • Madison Snyder, senior
  • Madison Swope, senior

The students created patriotic artwork with guidance from art teacher Mr. Scott Cantrell and wrote short essays of how their patriotism was expressed through art. Participants received certificates of recognition and monetary gifts from Post 7294 or Post 5956.
