Class of 2019 Graduates

web summer 201

New L-S graduates throw their caps in the air at the end of 2019 Commencement on May 31, 2019.

Approximately 250 seniors became the latest Lampeter-Strasburg graduates at the District's 66th annual commencement on Friday, May 31. The ceremony was the first to be held on the new turf Pioneer Field at J.K. Mechanical Stadium. This year’s senior class was also the first to have attended Lampeter Elementary. They were second graders when the school opened for the 2008-2009 school year.

The weather on graduation day was perfect, especially after a week of heat, humidity, and severe thunderstorms. Family and friends of the graduates filled the bleachers on both sides of the stadium to watch as seniors filed in to the L-S High School Orchestra's "Pomp and Circumstance." A trio of senior vocalists - Pierson Castor, Logan Emmert, and Braeden Weaver - sang the National Anthem and the senior members of the Madrigal Singers followed up with the L-S Alma Mater. Senior Salvatore Viscusi and High School principal Dr. Benjamin Feeney provided opening remarks before the Madrigals took the stage again for a performance of One Republic's "I Lived."

Senior Leah Welk delivered an uplifting keynote speech, titled “Take Your Hands Out of Your Pockets.” Leah urged her classmates to do just that in order to “allow yourself to work hard, serve others, get through the challenges of your life, and celebrate how beautiful life is.” She reminded the Class of 2019 not to only pursue success, but also happiness and passion, ending with “Whatever you do, do it with all of your heart and your hands extended ready to take on and conquer the life that is yours.”
