Senior Anne Leaman became the first student in L-S orchestra history to make it to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Orchestra twice! She also successfully auditioned for a spot, placing 6th in the state, in the orchestra during her junior year in 2019.
After being selected to perform in this year’s Lancaster-Lebanon County orchestra festival, Anne auditioned in an increasingly competitive field to advance to district and regional levels. This March, she auditioned for and won a coveted seat in the 2020 All-State Orchestra during the 15-county Region V Festival at Susquehannock High School. The state orchestra was unable to perform because the season was cut short, but their achievement remains.
Anne is the daughter of Christopher and Alison Leaman of Willow Street and has played the viola since she was six years old. As a senior, she was part of the L-S High School orchestra, pit orchestra, marching band, concert band, and chorus as well as NHS, Tri-M music honorary, High School Heroes, Fellowship of Christian Students, and the L-S Thespian Society. Outside of school, Anne performs with the Allegretto Youth Orchestra of Lancaster and the Prince Street Quartet and is active in her church youth group. She plans to attend Grove City College near Pittsburgh to study biochemistry and will join the college’s orchestra.
