Spring Sports, Senior Athlete Tribute Planned
On Wednesday, May 20, we will join other Lancaster-Lebanon (L-L) League members to honor our spring athletes, particularly the seniors who will not get to play in the final season of their high school careers. We plan to light up our stadiums at 20:20 military time (8:20 p.m.) and leave the lights on for 20 minutes. May 20 also signifies the official completion of the L-L League regular and championship season, thus officially ending the 2020 L-L League spring sports season.
Based on an idea that originated in Texas, scoreboards in lighted stadiums will display the score 20-20 in honor of this year’s graduating class. Fourth and 19 will be shown as the down and distance, signifying that COVID-19 is on its final down.
Supporters are encouraged to drive through the campus but are NOT permitted to enter the stadium during this observance. At this time, only driving by the stadium will be permitted. Spectators are asked to remain in their vehicles and NOT to congregate on campus.
We encourage all supporters to bring cowbells, rally towels, horns, etc. and to wave and make noise while driving through campus.
Supporters should enter campus at the L-S High School entrance of Rosier Way, follow through campus, and exit on Pioneer Road. ALL other entrances to campus will be closed during the tribute to assist with traffic flow and deter spectator congregation.
More information will be provided on the L-S website closer to May 20 to ensure full compliance with the current recommendations and guidance from the CDC and the PA Department of Health.
