L-S Ballerinas to Star in The Nutcracker
Junior Emma Westcott and senior Allyson Deihl have leading roles in this year's production of The Nutcracker, sponsored by Viktor Yeliohin International Ballet Academy along with the Donetsk Ballet Company of the Ukraine.
Emma has the lead role of Clara on Saturday, December 7, at 1 p.m. and Sunday, December 8, at 2:30 p.m. Emma has been practicing ballet for 13 years, including eight years in The Nutracker. She is a member of Viktor Yeliohin’s International Ballet Academy Performance Company and was previously a member of Maine State Ballet. At L-S High School, Emma is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Interact Club, Spanish Club, and the Asian Cultures Club. She also works part-time at Aeropostale.
Allyson has the lead role of Fritz on Friday, December 6, at 9:45 a.m. and Saturday, December 7, at 6 p.m. Allyson has been dancing for 12 years, with seven years performing in The Nutcracker. At L-S High School, Allyson is involved in marching band, concert band, concert choir, full orchestra, pit orchestra, National Honor Society, High School Heroes, and the tech crew. She is also a Girl Scout, a member of her church youth group, and a paid volunteer in the nursery at One City Church.
Both Emma and Allyson also will dance in the Snow Scene and Waltz of the Flowers. Other L-S students performing in The Nutcracker are senior Delayne Breslin, sophomore Elizabeth Stahovich, seventh grader Gianna Fasano, and fifth grader Jaleigh Gore.
Performances will be held at the Lancaster Mennonite High Performing Arts Center. Discounted tickets can be purchased through dancers through November 14. After that days, tickets can be purchased by phone at 717 201- 1122 or by email at email@example.com.
