L-S High School Names Students of the Month
A senior, two junior, and a sophomore have been selected to receive honors at Lampeter-Strasburg High School for their achievements during the month of September.
Anne is a senior and the daughter of Christopher and Alison Leaman of Willow Street. She is the president of the school orchestra and the T-M Music Honor Society and the co-president of National Honor Society as well as a member of concert band, marching band, Madrigals, concert choir, pit orchestra, spring musical, High School Heroes, and the Fellowship of Christian Students. Anne was recently the first runner-up for Homecoming Queen and a West Lampeter Fair Queen finalist. She's received accolades as a PMEA district, regional, and all-state violinist, a member of the distinguished honor roll, and a two-time Burrowes Scholar. She serves as a youth group leader at Grace Church at Willow Valley, plays with the Allegretto Youth Orchestra, and is a founder of the Prince Street Quartet. Anne also enjoys reading, traveling, and playing the guitar and viola. She plans to attend college to study biomedical engineering.
John is a junior and the son of Michael Blochberger of Strasburg and Aimee Blochberger of Lancaster. At school, John is on the distinguished honor roll and is active on the quiz bowl team and in the Asian Cultures Club. He spends his free time fishing, hiking, and playing guitar and plans to pursue a career as a biologist.
Students of the Month
Gabrielle is a junior and the daughter of Wanda Herr of Strasburg. At school, she is a member of the Pioneer Interact Club, the Scrub Club, the honor roll, and the varsity cheerleading squad. Outside of school, Gabrielle enjoys art, listening to music, cheerleading, and spending time with family and friends. She plans to pursue a career in the medical field and is interested in becoming a pediatric nurse.
Kyle is a sophomore and the son of Steven and Laura Younger of Lancaster. He's an honor roll student and a member of the Grace Community Church Youth Group. Kyle enjoys playing piano and plans to pursue a career in electrical engineering after graduation.
The Pioneer Superlatives and Students of the Month received recognition at the October 7 meeting of the L-S Board of School Directors. Patricia Pontz, Board Vice President, presented their certificates.
