Byrnes Honored for School Board Service
Lampeter-Strasburg School Board member James Byrnes was honored by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) for his 24 years of service to the District. Karen Devine, PSBA’s interim director of member services, traveled from Harrisburg to present the award at the Board’s meeting on September 3, 2019. Board member Scott Arnst also received an award for eight years of service.
“Our school community is blessed to have great community representatives serving on our School Board,” said L-S Superintendent Dr. Kevin Peart. “We are truly appreciative of Mr. Byrnes’s service to our students and staff over the course of his 24 years on our Board. His knowledge and understanding of our schools and community are true assets to the District. We are grateful to Mr. Byrnes (and his family) for his countless hours of service!”
Byrnes has served six consecutive terms since joining the Board in 1995. He was elected both vice president and president, leading the Board until stepping down in 2014. In addition to his regular duties, Byrnes currently serves on the Buildings and Grounds Committee, the Personnel Committee, the Board of Review Committee, the Executive Committee, and the Finance Committee. He is also the L-S representative and Treasurer of Lancaster County Career & Technology Center's Joint Operating Committee.
Congratulations Mr. Byrnes and Mr. Arnst! Thank you for all that you do!
