What's New for 2018-2019

The varsity football team practices on the new turf field at JK Mechanical Stadium.
School Resource Officer
Officer Covey of the West Lampeter Township Police Department will be assigned as the District’s School Resource Officer (SRO) this school year. He officially begins in this capacity on January 1, 2019.
1:1 Learning at the High School
Every high school student will receive a Chromebook during the first week of school. Please review and return the Chromebook paperwork and protection plan as soon as possible. Parents can attend the 1:1 Parent Meeting on August 16 from 6-7:00 p.m. to learn more.
Campus Improvements
The varsity football and soccer fields have been regraded, outfitted with multipurpose synthetic turf and safety padding, and the venues have been upgraded for ADA access. The new, enlarged JK Mechanical Stadium features a new press box and two new ticket booths, while the second turf field offers expanded spectator seating and lights. In addition to football and soccer, the fields will be used for field hockey, lacrosse, and physical education classes. Across campus, a new support building provides restrooms, concessions, and storage, dugouts are in place at the JV softball field, and an ADA-compliant walkway helps spectators access the varsity field hockey and softball fields. The parking lot between the stadium and baseball field also has been repaved.
Pioneer Pride Classic Sports Kickoff Event
Everyone is invited to join the District's athletes and coaches at the new and improved Pioneer Field/JK Mechanical Stadium for the first-ever Pioneer Pride Classic. This event officially kicks off the 2018-2019 sports season with recognition of each team's 2017-2018 achievements and performances by cheerleaders and the marching band.
The inaugural Pioneer Pride Classic is scheduled for Thursday, August 30, at 7:30 p.m.
High School Media Center Makeover
The High School media center has been redesigned with new furniture and an open learning commons that invites students to work individually or together on projects and assignments. The new look is based on 2017-2018 architecture students' design challenge ideas. Library visitors can now enjoy a comfortable seating area complete with charging stations, high top table workstations, and a large table at which groups of students can collaborate.
Hans Herr Elementary Playground
Hans Herr students will be excited to explore their brand new playground. The equipment, including a climbing wall, zipline, and SpinMax Tower, was specifically chosen for intermediate-age children, and several ADA inclusive pieces ensure that everyone will have a chance to play. Students chose the bright blue and green color scheme. The playground equipment is installed on a safe and durable quick-dry rubberized surface that connects via bridges to the blacktop and gaga pit play areas. A friends bench built around a tree completes the new playground.
*Rain has delayed surface installation, but most of the playground is ready to go for the first day of school!
