L-S Commemorates Veterans Day
Students have been observing Veterans Day by sending respect and support to those who have served.
Here are just a few examples:

The Martin Meylin Middle School Band's trumpet section played Taps for the student body at 11:11 a.m. in honor of Veterans Day. The number 11 "marks the anniversary of the 1918 signing of the Armistice, which marked the end of fighting on the Western Front in the First World War. The signing took place at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month."*

Mrs. Maser's and Mrs. Strawser's classes sent letters to veterans at a VA hospital through Operation Gratitude. The teachers like to choose "service projects that require the students to be involved and reflect on how blessed they are in life."

Mrs. Hogan's students wrote poems and are bringing in photos to share about the veterans in their lives.

Mrs. Mannix's first graders wrote about veterans and recorded video messages.
