L-S Reaches Toys for Tots Milestone
10,000+ Toys Donated in 13 Years

This year, L-S families donated 1,277 toys to the Marine Toys for Tots program. Not only was this the largest number of toys ever collected in a single year, but it also helped to reach a milestone total of 10,715 toys donated in the district’s 13-year history with the program. Mrs. Karen Taraborelli, a second grade teacher at Lampeter Elementary School, is the district's Toys for Tots coordinator.

Sixth grader Riley Moore continued his one-man Toys for Tots service project this year by collecting 91 toys. Riley has been responsible for donating nearly 600 toys since he started kindergarten!

This year, toys were collected for a two week period at each of the schools and the administration building. On December 7, Santa joined volunteers from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, Shultz Transportation, and the Pioneer Interact Club to collect the donations and spread some holiday cheer. The group was able to stuff an entire school bus with toys, which will now make their way into the arms of Lancaster County’s neediest children.
