Throughout the school year, third graders will gather for monthly Circle the Wagons assemblies to emphasize positive behavior skills. It's an opportunity both to teach concepts and to applaud students whose conduct benefits themselves and others. Each month, teachers will each choose a student or students who best model highlighted behaviors.

September's theme was "Pioneer Spirit and Grit." Students learned about the importance of a positive growth mindset for accomplishing goals through an interactive presentation and a series of teacher skits. The assembly ended with the announcement of the students of the month. Awardees stood to receive their certificates while their classmates and parents, who had been tipped off in advance, cheered.

Congratulations to each of the Pioneer Spirit and Grit Award Recipients!

Mindsets

Third graders met three mindset representatives: Sir Speedy Rabbit, who always rushes to be the first one done; Mr. Fixed Mindset, who gives up easily; and the Yet I Knight, who works through frustration and realizes you can learn anything.
