L-S High School Students of the Month
Autumn Swope, Maichel Al Saqqa, Olivia Zook, and Thomas Shockey receive recognition from Mrs. Melissa Herr, president of the L-S Board of School Directors, at the Board's January 7 meeting.
Two seniors and two juniors are applauded by L-S High School faculty for their achievements during December, 2018.
Olivia is a junior and the daughter of Lori and Randell Zook of Willow Street. She plays the viola in the school orchestra and is a member of the Pioneer Interact Club, National Honor Society, and the honor roll. Olivia is a member of the Allegretto Youth Orchestra and is active in her church youth group and missions. She works at Village Greens Miniature Golf in the summer and enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends. Olivia plans to attend a four-year college to major in English so she can become a high school English teacher.
Thomas is a senior and the son of Tina and Matthew Shockey of Lancaster. He is the senior class president, treasurer of Mini-THON, a High School Hero, and a member of the varsity baseball and cross country teams. Thomas is an honor roll student and was named Pioneer of the Year in March 2018 by the L-S community. He works at Max’s Eatery as well as at DoubleTree Resort as a lifeguard. Thomas spends his free time restoring mopeds, lifting weights, and hanging out with friends. He plans to attend Penn State University to study engineering.
Students of the Month
Autumn is a senior and the daughter of Karin and Jeffrey Swope of Strasburg. At LSHS, she is a cheerleader and a member of the Chess Club, Enigma Club, and the Philosophy Club. She was also recognized as a Student of the Month during the 2017-2018 school year. Outside of school, Autumn enjoys making videos and playing the drums. She plans to pursue a career in nursing after graduation.
Maichel Al Saqqa
Maichel Al Saqqa is a junior and the son of Najwa Mitri and George Al Saqqa of Lancaster. is a member of the LSHS soccer and wrestling teams. Maichel's interests include hunting and fishing. He plans to pursue a career as a physical therapist.
