Sixteen seniors have been selected by the LSHS student body to make up the 2018 homecoming court. Members of the court will perform skits to compete for students' votes at an all-school pep assembly on Thursday, October 18. That night, the king will be crowned at halftime during the Powderpuff game. The queen will be crowned at halftime during the Homecoming game on Friday, October 19. The king and queen will reign at the Homecoming dance on Saturday, October 20.

Both the Powderpuff game and Homecoming game kick off at 7:00 p.m. Good luck to all of the members of this year's court!

2018 Homecoming Queen Candidates

Sarah Capoferri

Sarah is the daughter of Steve and Wendy Capoferri of Lancaster. She is the co-captain of the varsity girls tennis team and a member of the Varsity Club, Pioneer Interact Club, and the High School Heroes program. Outside of school, Sarah is active at her church and works with the United States Tennis Association. She plans to attend college to pursue a degree in elementary education and to play tennis.

Marissa Denlinger

Marissa is the daughter of Jim Denlinger of Willow Street and Jennifer and Bryan Peterson of Holtwood. She is president of the LSHS National Honor Society and a member of student council, the High School Heroes program, the Ski and Snowboard Club, Pioneer Interact Club, Varsity Club, and the varsity girls lacrosse team. Outside of school, Marissa is a member of the Tiger’s Hunting Club. She plans to attend college to pursue a career in criminal justice and hopes to apply to the PA State Police Academy after college.

Emma Gochnauer

Emma is the daughter of Brad and Marybeth Gochnauer of Strasburg. She is the president of the Varsity Club, and a member of student council, Mini-THON, the High School Heroes program, and the varsity girls soccer and varsity girls basketball teams. Emma also plays basketball for the Philadelphia Comets. She plans to attend college to study elementary education and to play basketball.

Maya Horst

Maya is the daughter of Steve and Dawn Horst of Lancaster. She is a student council co-president, the captain of the varsity girls soccer team, and a member of National Honor Society and the High School Heroes program. Maya attends church at the Worship Center, plays club soccer with Rage United, and volunteers at Lancaster General Hospital through a student program. She plans to attend college to ultimately obtain a doctorate in physical therapy.

Payton King

Payton is the daughter of James and Pam King of Lancaster. She is the captain of the varsity cross country team and a member of National Honor Society and the varsity track and field team. Payton works at Meck’s Produce in Central Market, enjoys spending time cooking with her grandmother, and is a Survivor and Big Brother enthusiast. She plans to attend college to study nutrition.

Xynthie Ortiz

Xynthie is the daughter of Benjamin Ortiz of Lancaster and Juanita Dueño of Willow Street. She is the vice president of World Cultures Club and a member of National Honor Society, student council, Pioneer Interact Club, Mini-THON, Varsity Club, and the varsity girls tennis team. Xynthie helps out at her sister’s boutique when not busy with school activities. She plans to attend college to study criminology and journalism and to pursue a career in design and fashion.

Katelyn Smith

Katelyn is the daughter of Craig and Kim Smith of Willow Street. She is the student council co-treasurer, varsity field hockey captain, and a member of National Honor Society, the High School Heroes program, and the varsity lacrosse team. Katelyn is involved with youth group at Millersville Community Church and works at the Lampeter Café. She plans to attend a four-year college to study nursing.

Elli Strauss

Elli is the daughter of Kevin Strauss of Strasburg and Ann Strauss of Lancaster. She is the vice president of the Spanish Club and a member of the High School Heroes Program, Pioneer Interact Club, Outdoor Club, and the varsity girls soccer team. Outside of school, Elli plays club soccer for PA Classics and enjoys art. She plans to attend college to pursue a career in anthropology and hopes to study abroad with interest in international services.

2018 Homecoming King Candidates

Nevin Book

Nevin is the son of Gary and Julie Book of Willow Street. At LSHS, he is a member of the varsity boys basketball and varsity baseball teams. Outside of school, Nevin enjoys spending time with friends, fishing, and playing golf. He plans to attend a four-year college to study international business and marketing.

Jarrett Daveler

Jarrett is the son of Deen and Jo-Elle Daveler of Lancaster. He is a member of the World Cultures Club, Pioneer Interact Club, and the Ski and Snowboard Club. Outside of school, Jarrett attends Ascension Lutheran Church of Willow Street and the Unite youth group and enjoys flag football. He plans to attend Penn State University to study business.

Johnny Franklin

Johnny is the son of Kevin and Dorothy Franklin of Lancaster. He is the president of the Outdoor/Environmental Club, the treasurer of the Spanish Club, and a member of the Asian Cultures Club, the varsity football team, and the varsity wrestling team. Johnny works at Texas Roadhouse and is a student leader at First United Methodist Church of Lancaster. He plans to attend a four-year college to study business.

Matthew Monroy

Matthew is the son of Mark Monroy of Willow Street and Lety Monroy of Conestoga. He is a member of the High School Heroes Program, the L-S Thespian Society, and an actor in fall plays and spring musicals. Outside of school, Matthew works at Jersey Mike’s Subs. He is undecided about his major in college.

Noah Patterson

Noah is the son of Nate and Donna Patterson of Lancaster. He is a member of the Varsity Club and the varsity boys soccer and varsity boys lacrosse teams. Noah volunteers at Schreiber Pediatrics and plays for Duke’s Lacrosse Club. He plans to attend Wagner College to study business/law and to play lacrosse.

Thomas Shockey

Thomas is the son of Matthew and Tina Shockey of Lancaster. He is the Senior Class President, the 2018 Pioneer of the Year, Mini-THON treasurer, and a member of the High School Heroes program, the cross country team, and the varsity baseball team. Outside of school, Thomas works at DoubleTree resort and at Max’s Eatery and enjoys spending time with family and friends. He plans to attend college to study mechanical engineering.

Jack Smith

Jack is the son of Mark and Jennifer Smith of Lancaster. He is a member of student council, the High School Heroes program, the honor roll, and the varsity boys basketball team. Jack attends youth group at Lancaster Church of the Brethren. He plans to attend college to study business.

Adam Stoltzfus

Adam is the son of Arlin and Kim Stoltzfus of Strasburg. He is a member of Pioneer Interact Club and the varsity football, baseball, and basketball teams. Outside of school, Adam attends the Worship Center, volunteers at North Star Initiatives, and manages his Etrade account to gain a better understanding of the stock market. He plans to attend college to study business/nutrition and to play basketball. He hopes to pursue a career as a financial advisor while also working for his family’s business.
