Back to School Guide

Back to School Guide 2018 201

Student Information

PowerSchool is the District’s student information system. It contains useful information for both parents and students: grades for middle and high school students, attendance records, bus information, immunization and health records, graduation progress, and contact information for each student. PowerSchool is also available as an app from the App Store and Google Play.

Transportation

School bus assignments and stop locations can be located in PowerSchool. Elementary school students and nonpublic students received bus letters in late July, and incoming sixth graders received their letters at the August 9 Martin Meylin Orientation (letters will be mailed for students who could not attend). More information is available on the website's transportation page.

Meal Accounts

SchoolCafe is an easy solution for managing meal accounts. Parents can add funds, schedule payments, and review student purchases. A small convenience fee is charged per transaction. Cash and personal checks are always welcome.

Arrival and Dismissal Times

The school day starts promptly at 7:30 a.m. at Martin Meylin, 7:35 a.m. at the High School, and at 8:55 a.m. at Hans Herr and Lampeter Elementary Schools. The day ends at 2:45 p.m. at the secondary level and at 3:35 p.m. at the elementary level. Specific parent pickup times and information about early dismissals and delayed start times can be found on the arrivals and dismissals page and in school handbooks.

Cycle Days

The District operates on a six-day cycle, with the elementary schools also utilizing weeks A and B for scheduling. In the case of an unexpected day off, school will resume on the expected cycle day. Keep track on the cycle days page.

Technology

Students in grades 5-12 will be assigned Chromebooks for use throughout the year as part of our 1:1 learning program. Please return all associated paperwork, as well as all first day paperwork, as soon as possible.
