Kids Helping Kids: Second Graders Collect Warming Items
Second grade class representatives showcase the warm winter wares they collected.
In honor of the 100th day of school, second graders came together for a special ‘100 items’ service project. Team teachers set a goal for students in the District’s ten second grade classes to collectively bring in 100 pieces of cold weather gear like mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves, for children in need. The idea also coincided with the weekly reading theme of How Do People Help in Their Community?.
Through this ‘kids helping kids’ project, students ended up donating 216 warming items; more than doubling their goal. The items will be distributed to other local elementary schools. Meanwhile, Lampeter students are left with a warm feeling knowing that they are responsible for making their neighbors’ winters a little less chilly.
