LSHS Students of the Month
LSHS faculty selected four seniors as the year's final Students of the Month for their achievements during the month of May. The graduates will be publicly recognized at the next meeting of the Board of School Directors.
Samantha Tran - Pioneer Superlative
Samantha is a senior and the daughter of Nikki Nguyen and Danny Tran of Lancaster. At LSHS, she is the president of the Asian Culture Club, a liaison for Aevidum, and a member of student council, the L-S Thespian Society, Pioneer Interact, LS News, the spring musical, the girls tennis team, and National Honor Society. She is an honor roll student and the recipient of the 2016 Burrowes Scholar award for Mandarin Chinese, as well as the winner of three senior awards. Outside of school, Samantha spends time playing tennis, volunteering, singing, shopping, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. She plans to attend Franklin & Marshall College in the fall and is undecided about her major.
Matthew Paich - Pioneer Superlative
Matthew is a senior and the son of Keith and Sherry Paich of Lancster. He is the secretary of National Honor Society and was the secretary of the sophomore and junior classes. He is also a member of the Asian Culture Club, Mini-THON, and the boys tennis team. Matthew, an honor roll student and ACE mentor, volunteers for L-S Community Closet. He enjoys tennis, video games, and swimming and plans to attend Penn State Main Campus in the fall to study electrical engineering.
Hope Long - Student of the Month
Hope is a senior and the daughter of Sherry Osborne of Willow Street and Sean Burke. She has attended school functions like prom and homecoming throughout her years at L-S. Hope volunteers at Willow Valley and helps her mother around the house. She has made honor roll and received positive referrals at school. Hope enjoys camping, swimming, and being outdoors and plans to join School to Work next year.
Joshua Mellinger - Student of the Month
Joshua is a senior and the son of Arthur and Becky Mellinger of Strasburg. He is active on the tech crew at LSHS and attend youth group outside of school. Joshua enjoys music, football, volleyball, and fishing. After graduation he hopes to work at (and eventually own) a recording studio and to do sound for live worship sessions.
