Shannon Ferrari Wins National Art Awards
Junior Shannon Ferrari has been selected as a national gold medalist and an American Visions Medal winner in the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Shannon was among several high school artists to win awards at the regional level in this year’s Scholastic competition. Her mixed media piece, The Search for Truth, was one of only five in the region to be named an American Visions nominee. It was announced as the winning submission on March 14 by the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.
Receiving a National Medal places Shannon within the top 1% of more than 330,000 works of art and writing that were submitted by students in grades 7–12 this year. Her award-winning work will be honored at a star-studded reception at New York’s Carnegie Hall on June 8, 2017. It will also be on display as part of Art.Write.Now.2017, an exhibition of teen-produced art and writing. The exhibition runs from June 2-12 at the Sheila C. Johson Design Center at Parsons School of Design in New York.
