September 2017 Students of the Month
Four Lampeter-Strasburg High School students have been recognized for their achievements and named as September 2017 Pioneer Superlatives and Students of the Month.
Pioneer Superlatives
Hadassah Hoover

Hadassah is a junior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Hoover of Lancaster. Hadassah is this year’s chaplain officer of the Garden Spot FFA and a member of the L-S Model UN and the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS). She is a winner of the FFA Scholarship award and a first-place FFA Regional Jr. Prepared Speaking recipient. Hadassah has lived abroad and is an active member of the Byerland Mennonite Church youth group. She spends her free time crocheting, reading, and cooking. After graduation, Hadassah plans to spend a gap year with Youth With A Mission Discipleship Training School (YWAM) and then will continue her education.
Douglas Bell

Douglas is a sophomore and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Bell of Lancaster. At LSHS, he is a member of the cross country team and has plans to create a computer programming/computer science club this year. Douglas serves as a stage manager for Promise Players Theater Group and enjoys playing the piano and programming in Java. He plans to attend college to study computer programming or computer hardware engineering.
Students of the Month
Amanda Hay

Amanda is a senior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Hay of Willow Street. She is involved in the Pioneer Interact Club, yearbook, cheerleading, swimming, and lacrosse at LSHS. Amanda is a member of her church’s youth group and enjoys playing the guitar and ukulele. She plans to attend college to become an adoption counselor.
Luke Weigel

Luke is a senior and the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weigel of Lancaster. He is the treasurer of the L-S Varsity Club and a member of the baseball team. An honor roll student, Luke volunteers at his church and helps out at baseball camps. He enjoys baseball and wood turning and plans to pursue a career as a wood technology teacher.
The students received recognition from the L-S Board of School Directors at the Board's October 2nd meeting.
