Spring 2021 Spectator Guidelines
The Lampeter-Strasburg School District Athletic Department has followed the recent updates from the DOH, NFHS, PDE, PIAA, and SMAC on how to safely and successfully host interscholastic athletic events. We have developed a document to be used as a guide for all spring sporting events and off-season workouts held on our campus. It is important to point out that the considerations listed in this document are designed to decrease the potential exposure to COVID-19. As additional information is released, we will adjust or adapt accordingly. We remind all stakeholders that interscholastic participation is voluntary.
Coaches, athletes (including cheerleaders), and spectators must wear face coverings if they cannot maintain sustained physical distance from persons outside of their household. This includes while actively engaged in workouts, competition, and on the sidelines, in the dugout, etc. If sustained six-foot distancing can be maintained, face coverings may be removed when outdoors.
Coaches, athletes (including cheerleaders), and spectators must wear face coverings, when indoors and where another person or persons who are not members of the individual's household are present in the same space, irrespective of physical distance. This includes while actively engaged in workouts, competition, and on the sidelines, etc.
L-S Athletic Facility Regulations
In compliance with the March 3, 2021, Order of the Secretary of the PA Department of Health for Mitigation and Enforcement, spectator access to spring sports may be permitted - dependent upon the size and layout of each individual facility.
Most of our spring sports facilities are not enclosed (except for the stadium), therefore, we are unable to fully calculate and supervise capacity limits. The present stadium capacity limit of 20% equals 550 people. All individuals present count toward the limit and must comply with the Universal Face Covering Order and its subsequent amendments and physical distancing guidelines. Given past attendance numbers, we do not foresee any competitions breaching that threshold. Therefore, “vouchers” will not be given to student-athletes this spring; there is currently no need to limit how many spectators athletes can invite to competitions.
All spectators are still asked to sit with immediate family members, while maintaining 6’ social distance from non-family members. Spectators are asked to abide by the universal face covering order when they are not able to social distance. This may include entering, moving around, or exiting each facility.
