Athletic Training

Who We Are:

Athletic trainers are highly educated and skilled healthcare professionals specializing in the prevention, examination, treatment and rehabilitation of acute or chronic injuries. In cooperation with a team physician and other allied health personnel, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the athletic healthcare team in secondary schools, colleges, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs, industrial settings and even Broadway! Our primary focus is the needs and safety of our student athletes.

Jennifer McCrabb

Jen graduated from Columbia High School, then went on to complete her degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine at East Stroudsburg University. She participated in field hockey, basketball, and softball in high school, then continued playing basketball for the E.S.U. Warriors.

“My love for sports and helping people, went hand in hand with athletic training," says Jen. "It’s the best of both worlds. I take pride in being able to get an athlete back into action as quick and safe as possible. Some of my most memorable moments are watching our athletes achieve personal and team goals!”

You can usually find Jen rolling in the mud while participating in obstacle course runs, hiking, or at the gym. Her most satisfying past time is watching her sister Amy participate in Special Olympics. Jen resides in Pequea with her husband Jeff and their cats, Aladdin and Izzabella

Allison Rehm

Allie is a 2005 graduate from Penn Manor High School where she played lacrosse. She then attended Penn State Mont Alto and studied to be a physical therapist assistant and transferred to Messiah College to complete her degree in Athletic Training.

“I never knew that I wanted to be an athletic trainer until my cousin suggested I use the degree as a stepping stone to get my doctorate in Physical Therapy," said Allie. "I fell in love with the profession and never looked back! I love the role that I am able to play in the lives of student-athletes. I make it a point to know them not just for their injury but also who they are as people. It helps me understand their injury and rehabilitation process in a different way. A question we get asked all the time is ‘So what’s your favorite sport to watch.’ I’ll just say whichever I am watching at the time!”

Allie has completed 4 marathons and multiple half marathons. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and puppy, running, traveling and gardening! It’s a great day to be a Pioneer!

Dr. Zachary Geidel

Dr. Zachary Geidel is employed by WellSpan Health. He completed medical school at Penn State University, College of Medicine. After medical school, he finished his residency and sports medicine fellowship at University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

“I went into medicine because I really enjoy interacting with people and wanted to make an impact on people's lives in a very important way," Geidel reports. "I think improving one's well-being and overall health is one of the single most important ways you can accomplish this. I love the breadth of issues we take care of in family medicine and enjoy caring for patients of all ages. I also really enjoy my sports medicine practice and helping people to become more active and physically fit so they can make the most of their lives.”

In his free time Dr. Geidel enjoys spending time with his wife and two beautiful daughters. He enjoys staying active and has a general love for physical fitness. Recently he has taken up competing in triathlons and half marathons and enjoys the feeling of accomplishing these goals.

Sports Physical Information

Student athletes entering 7-12th graders will need a Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (CIPPE) handed in to the athletic trainers prior to practicing, scrimmaging or participating in game play. The CIPPE may not be authorized earlier than June 1st and shall be effective, regardless of when performed during a school year, until the latter of the next May 31st or the conclusion of the current spring sports season.
