L-S Technology Team at PETE&C, Tim Geiter Wins Award
February 19, 2014

Lampeter-Strasburg (L-S) School District technology specialist Timothy Geiter was named the 2014 Outstanding Technical Support Person of the Year by the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology (PAECT). The award was presented at the organization’s annual banquet on Monday, February 10, 2014, at the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo & Conference (PETE&C) in Hershey.
Geiter was nominated for the award by Lester Stoltzfus, the District’s director of technology. The nomination came complete with more than 20 letters of acclaim from L-S employees who praised Geiter for his work ethic and positive attitude. Many letters also mentioned his dedication in implementing the District’s virtual desktop program, which is a huge time- and cost-saving measure.
“Tim is very deserving of this award,” explained Stoltzfus. “A lot of people relied on him during the implementation of our virtual desktop technology, and he put in the time and effort to make it happen. He provided hands-on support to the end-users and continues to listen and respond as the project matures. We are very fortunate to have Tim as part of our team.”
Geiter, an eight-year veteran of the L-S technology department, was one of seven award winners recognized this year, including Outstanding Leader of the Year and Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In addition to his position at L-S, Geiter teaches evening classes at the York Technical Institute (YTI). He resides with his wife and son in Lancaster.

Geiter was not the only L-S technology department employee to participate in the PETE&C conference. Stoltzfus was instrumental in the event’s coordination, both as a member of the web/marketing committee and as the developer of the technology track tagged - Infrastructure Technology in Education. Network and systems administrator Michael DeBakey was a workshop presenter whose session was selected as one of the top 15 seminars to follow-up with a round-table “poster board” session the last day of the conference. The District’s technology coach, Elizabeth Toigo, also attended.
