Long Takes Geography Bee
January 14, 2014
Geography Bee winner Teddy Long thinks through his answer during the semi-finals.
Eighth grader Teddy Long was the winner of the Martin Meylin geography bee on Monday, January 13. This is the second year that Long has taken home the honor. He also won in sixth grade.
The geography bee pitted 18 exceptional middle school students against each other in an American and World geography challenge. The students advanced to the school-wide bee through classroom and section competitions. The competitors were elimated through a number of rounds until only two - Long and seventh grader Jared Getchis - remained to fight it out for the win.
Teddy now will complete a written exam tin order to move on to the Pennsylvania National Geographic Bee. If he prevails there, he will continue to advance toward the 2014 National Geographic Bee, which takes place May 19-21, 2014. Congratulations and good luck!
