Lampeter Elementary Tops Buck-A-Book Competition
May 12, 2014

The Buck-A-Book grand prize winners display their new devices
Lampeter Elementary School was named the top fundraiser in the 2014 Buck-a-Book campaign from the Literacy Council of Lancaster-Lebanon. Students at Lampeter Elementary read over 11,000 books throughout the program, raising almost $7,400 that will be used for literacy efforts in the local community. Mrs. Kruppenbach’s second grade class raised the most money at $706.50. Every student who raised at least $50 was entered in a drawing to win some great prizes. Bennett Wehibe from Mrs. Kruppenbach’s class won an iPod, Kaiya McDonald from Mrs. Deardorff’s morning kindergarten class won a Kindle, and Julia Bono from Mrs. Hogan’s second grade class won an iPad. The excited students received their prizes on Thursday, May 9, during a visit from Literacy Council program director Jenny Bair.
Congratulations to these students and to everyone who participated at Lampeter Elementary! Thanks to your hard work and effort, the Literacy Council will be able to work with over 700 adults this year. Way to go, Lampeter readers!
