Back row - left to right: Mr. Eric Spencer, Lampeter-Strasburg High School principal, Dr. Kevin Peart, superintendent, Mr. Jeffrey Smecker, Hans Herr Elementary principal
The results are in and we are proud to report that L-S students and staff raised $1388.40 as a result of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge issued by administrators on the first day of school. The six participants had previously been challenged by high school technology education teacher Adam Zurn, who pledged to donate $100 for each administrator who dared to brave the ice water. The team jumped at the chance.
The plan was to use regular buckets, but things changed when the buildings and grounds department got involved. The administrators were treated to a bulldozer’s worth of icy cold water on the last Friday before the opening of school. They then asked students and staff members each to contribute one dollar to the campaign. True to his word, Mr. Zurn donated $600, plus $10 for his personal donation and $1 for his staff donation. Except the $1, this amount was not included in the District tally.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the L-S Ice Bucket Challenge. All money raised as part of this effort will be donated to the ALS Association from Lampeter-Strasburg School District.
