Girls Soccer Program Raises More than $4000 for Crohn's & Colitis Awareness
October 23, 2014

L-SHS soccer players make their donation to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America
Inspired to support a team member who had recently been diagnosed with and is managing Crohn’s disease, the L-S girls soccer team devoted themselves to raising money for treatment and research of Crohn's and ulcerative colitis. The girls raised more than $4,000 this fall with a pair of successful fundraisers. The teams organized and held a whoopie pie fundraiser through Hershey Farm Restaurant & Inn. One hundred percent of the profits were donated to the cause. Crohn’s Awareness t-shirts also were sold and worn at the senior night game versus Garden Spot on September 29. Eastern Lancaster County School Disrict and several other districts joined in to donate to the effort.
The money raised by L-S students was given to Lancaster Gastroenterology’s Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis team, which walked to raise awareness of the diseases on September 14, 2014. The donation will be used to support local patient programs and upcoming research projects. A big thank you goes to our girls soccer teams for their dedication, caring, and spirit.
