Art Department Creates Jewelry Line in Memory of Meredith Demko
October 16, 2014
A few examples of the handmade jewelry created by with love by LSHS artists in memory of Meredith Demko.
Students in the Lampeter-Strasburg High School Art Department worked together this year to make necklaces and other wearable items in honor of their beloved friend and peer, Meredith Demko. With thoughts of Meredith’s creative talents and positive spirit, the students celebrated her life by working collaboratively and, in turn, experienced one of the most meaningful reasons for creating art. The Clay and Sculpture students fabricated pendants out of clay, the Advanced Art students painted the pendants, and the Jewelry and Metals students put the necklaces together as well as other beautiful metal bracelets and earrings. Through this process of creating, memories were shared, emotions were felt, and everyone cherished the notion of creating something exclusively Made For Meredith.
These items will be up for bid at the silent auction this Friday evening, October 17, from 5-8pm, at the Asian Culture Club Fun Fair in the Martin Meylin Cafeteria and Gym. Proceeds will benefit The Meredith Leigh Demko Diversity Scholarship Fund. For more information, contact the L-S High School Art Teachers. More items will be on display during the month of December in the showcase outside of Room 217.
