Who will be crowned the 2013 Fair Queen? This year, 14 candidates will compete for the honor. The Fair Queen earns the opportunity to represent the community throughout the year and at the State Farm Fair. Candidates are selected and sponsored by various high school clubs. The candidates each write a 300 word essay regarding “What my fair means to my community” and conduct a 10-minute interview with a panel of three judges. It all leads up to Wednesday, September 25 - the first night of the West Lampeter Community Fair. After participating in the parade, the candidates will offer brief self- introductions and answer impromptu questions about the fair. FIve finalists will then be chosen and each will be asked to answer a second question before the Queen and first runner up are announced. Both will play an important role for the remainder of the Fair, which runs through Friday, September 27. Learn more by visiting the West Lampeter Fair website.
