Vietnam Veterans Share Experiences With Students

VVA Panel 2017 Vietnam Veterans Share Experiences With Students

High school students had a chance to bring history to life yesterday through a series of small group discussions with Vietnam veterans. Eight members of the Vietnam Veterans Association (VVA) Chapter 1008 of Lancaster visited the school to share their stories and answer questions. The veterans talked about living conditions and daily life during the war, as well as the struggles of losing friends and coming back to anti-war tensions at home.

The popular VVA educational event, coordinated through the High School social studies department, is now in its third year. Students from nearly 20 classes attended one of four sessions throughout the day. After the presentation, many students came forward to meet with the veterans and thank them for their service.

Much appreciation goes to the members of yesterday’s panel for taking the time to visit L-S:

• Ed Bookman – Army
• John Dobish – Army
• Bruce Deisinger – Army
• John Hoober - Army
• Mike Kunitky – Navy
• Rich Paulukew – Navy
• Grover Devault – Army
• Bob Ruble – Navy

Thank you, and welcome home!
