Countless hours of hard work paid off recently for freshman Lander Holsinger when his robotics team qualified for world championship competition. Lander, who has a longstanding interest in engineering and robotics, recently advanced from his Lancaster Lego League team to a FIRST Technical Challenge (FTC) group in Downingtown. His team is comprised of nine dedicated students from six school districts in Southeastern PA. The competition is sponsored by For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), a "not-for-profit STEM engagement program for kids worldwide."

Lander's team - Out of the Box Robotics - competed against nearly a thousand students on 72 teams at the East Super-Regional competition in Scranton on March 17-19, 2017. The team finished first in the regular tournament before being eliminated in the semifinal round. They will now compete against the best teams from the US and abroad at the First Championship this April in St. Louis.

Best of luck to Lander and to Out of the Box Robotics!
