L-S at the 92nd Annual West Lampeter Community Fair
Lampeter Elementary students complete their scavenger hunt at the 2015 Fair. Here's hoping for some of the same blue skies!
The 92nd annual Lampeter Fair starts tomorrow. It's tradition for many L-S students and their families to visit the fair each day to enjoy the wide variety of exhibits, food, and entertainment. Here’s just a little of what L-S has to offer at the fair this year:
Wednesday, September 28
The fair begins! It’s our first early dismissal day of the year and a chance for students to walk the grounds with family and friends. The Martin Meylin Marching Band plays a short concert in the main ring at 6:45 p.m.
Wednesday is also the day of the Fair Queen parade and competition. The parade starts at 7 p.m. and winds from the High School’s rear parking lot on Book Road to the Village Road fairgrounds entrance, then straight to the ring. Martin Meylin's drum line leads the procession of Fair Queen candidates and candy-throwing members of their sponsoring clubs. The 2016 Queen and Runner-up will be crowned at the competition, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The candidates can be found at their booth in the exhibition hall during each day of the fair.
Thursday, September 29
The fair is in full swing today. FFA judging and competitions take place in the morning, and our members are ready. Several L-S students and recent graduates have been working hard preparing to show animals this year:
@Ben Welk (2015 Graduate) – Pigs
@Donovan Weaver (2016 Graduate) – Lambs
@Sarah Hess (2016 Graduate) – Pigs
@Connor Ranck (Senior) – Goats and Dairy Beef
@Bryce Good (Sophomore) – Dairy Beef
@Leah Welk (Sophomore) – Pigs and Goats

@Luke Stauffer (Sophomore) – Lambs
@Grace Hess (Freshman) – Lambs
@Roddie Rice (Freshman) – Goats
@Jared Risser (Freshman) – Pigs (Freshman)
@Jordan Martin (Sophomore) – Big Beef and Pigs
Thursday also brings a concert from the High School Marching Band, who will perform in the ring from 6-6:30 p.m.
Friday, September 30
The final day is a great time to enjoy even more fair food. Many offerings are sponsored by and support L-S student groups:
@Hot dogs and hamburgers from the LSHS Marching Band
@Sausage sandwiches, ham loaf patties, and drinks from the Garden Spot FFA
@Pork BBQ and Soup from L-S Boys Basketball
@Pizza and Walking Tacos from the Interact Club
@Subs and Orchard Freeze drinks from L-S Boys Lacrosse
Elementary school students can be found touring the fairgrounds for field trips on Friday. The L-S booth also is in operation all three days. Board members and administrators will be at the booth to meet fairgoers and answer questions about the District. The L-S booth is located in the tent closest to the first aid station.
See you at the Fair!
