Wednesday, January 17, 2018, the Lampeter-Strasburg School District is is closed.
School is now in session on Friday, January 19, and will be closed for students on Monday, January 22, for an inservice day. HS final exams are now 1/18 and 1/19 with parent-approved early dismissal on Friday.
High School Students of the Month March 2016
Four Lampeter-Strasburg High School students have been recognized as March 2016 Students of the Month.
Ashley Zehr is a senior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Zehr of Strasburg. She has been the stage manager for the Fall Play and Spring Musical for the past two years and is also the chorus secretary and a member of the Aevidum Club, LSTS, yearbook, student council, and Interact Club. Ashley is a member of the Tri-M Honor Society and National Honor Society and has received awards for perfect attendance and stage managing.
She is an active member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church, where she helps with childcare and participates in youth group, the worship team, Power Praise, and the dance team. Ashley enjoys playing guitar and piano, singing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She will attend YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) this fall and begin college in 2017 to study music ministry.
Caleb Gawne is a senior and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aron Gawne of Lancaster. At LSHS, Caleb’s activities include cross country (captain), winter track, track and field, band, Aevidum Club, Fellowship of Christian Students, and L-S News, for which he is the winter sports reporter. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a winner of a Distinguished Athlete award for cross country.
Caleb is active at Calvary Church in youth group, serving as a small group apprentice leader and a volunteer on community building trips. He also helps to coordinate local cross country races. Caleb enjoys running, studying Chinese, soccer, traveling, watching Penn State football, and spending time with friends and family. He will attend Penn State University at University Park to study industrial engineering.
Faith Osborne is a senior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willmer Osborne of Willow Street. She is a member of the color guard, marching band, and the art club. Faith is the winner of several art awards including a Scholastic Gold Key and two Gold Keys, a Silver Key, and an honorable mention from the Lancaster County Young Artist program. She is a member of the 2015-2016 WGI Champion Color Guard and volunteers her time helping the middle school guard. Faith enjoys art and spending time bonding with her family. She will attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to study welding and hopes to open her own art studio.
Everett Honert is a sophomore and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Honert of Lancaster. Everett is a member of the concert band, the marching band, the cross country team, swim team, and track and field team. He is a district qualifier in both cross country and swimming. Everett is a member of the L-S Otters swim team and works as a lifeguard at the Strasburg Pool. He enjoys sports, technology, woodworking, and hiking and is undecided about his plans after graduation.
