Early Dismissal - January 16
Students in grades 6-12 will be dismissed today at 1:30 p.m. Students in grades K-5 will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. All after-school activities are cancelled with the exception of the Board workshop and Buildings and Grounds committee meetings, which will go on as planned.
November 2016 Students of the Month
Jordyn Kondras - Pioneer Superlative
Jordyn Kondras is a senior and the daughter of Bryan and Julie Kondras of Willow Street. An honor roll student, Jordyn is the student council president and a member of the varsity softball team, National Honor Society, Pioneer Interact Club, Varsity Club, Future Nurses Club, and a manager of the football team. She was named a LL-League 2nd team All-Star softball player and volunteers with a youth softball program. Jordyn has also volunteered at Lancaster General Hospital. She likes playing softball, painting and watching baseball – especially the Boston Red Sox. Jordyn plans to attend Wilkes University to major in nursing and play softball. After graduation she intends to attend graduate school to become a physician’s assistant.
Jared Risser - Pioneer Superlative
Jared Risser is a freshman and the son of Brent and Deborah Risser of Willow Street. He is an honor roll student and a member of the District’s FFA chapter. Jared is a recipient of the FFA Discovery Degree. He is interested in farming, motocross, and raising and showing livestock. Jared aspires to pursue a career as a grain broker after graduation.
Sarah Baxter - Student of the Month
Sarah Baxter is a junior and the daughter of Angela Baxter of Willow Street and Robert Baxter of Lancaster. Sarah is an honor roll student, Scholastic Art Award winner, and a member of the marching band color guard unit and the Spring Musical cast. She volunteers at Clipper Stadium, babysits, and participates in youth group at Grace Church. Sarah’s interests include music, art, and cooking. She plans to study design and art with a goal of creating props in the film industry.
Dylan McVey - Student of the Month
Dylan McVey is a junior and the son of Kimberly Skiles of Lancaster and Richard McVey of Strasburg. He is vice president of the chess club. Dylan attends the Increase Youth group and is interested in chess and history. He plans to pursue a career as an EMT.
The students were recognized at the December 5, 2016, meeting of the L-S Board of School Directors. The incoming vice president, Patricia Pontz, presented certificates.
