Wednesday, January 17, 2018, the Lampeter-Strasburg School District is is closed.
School is now in session on Friday, January 19, and will be closed for students on Monday, January 22, for an inservice day. HS final exams are now 1/18 and 1/19 with parent-approved early dismissal on Friday.
High School Students of the Month
Kristin Mast, Robert Bunning, Asielyz Rodriguez Hernandez, and Christopher Smyth
Four Lampeter-Strasburg High School students have been recognized for their achievements and recognized as December 2016 Pioneer Superlatives and Students of the Month.
Kristin Mast is a sophomore and the daughter of Brian and Karen Mast of Lancaster. Kristen is a consistent member of the distinguished honor roll as a member of chorus, full and pit orchestra, Asian Culture Club, Aevidum Club, Model UN, Pioneer Interact, tech crew, and the tennis team. She is the reigning Grammar Bowl champion. Kristin volunteers at Camp Hebron and is active in her church’s youth group. She enjoys reading, dancing, playing soccer, and playing the violin. Kristin plans to attend college to study pre-law.
Robert Bunning is a junior and the son Ronald and Kathy Bunning of Lancaster. He is an honor roll student consistently since sixth grade. Robert has volunteered in the school’s technology department for the past two summers. He enjoys computer programming and plans to follow his interest in computers by pursuing a career as a programmer, video game developer, or computer technician.
Students of the Month
Asielyz Rodriguez Hernandez
Asielyz Rodriguez Hernandez is a freshman and the daughter of Violeta Rivera of Lancaster. At LSHS, she is a member of the concert choir. Asielyz is active at her church and enjoys singing, dancing, and playing volleyball. She plans to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse.
Christopher Smyth is a sophomore and the son of Christopher and Lisa Smyth of Willow Street. A student of the month in middle school, Christopher is now member of the Garden Spot FFA and the honor roll. He works at pizza hut and enjoys soccer, basketball, and working with animals. Christopher plans to pursue a career as a veterinary technician.
The students were publicly recognized at the January 3 meeting of the L-S Board of School Directors and presented with certificates by Board President Melissa Herr.
